About
Meet District Attorney Lauren Heinen
Lauren Heinen was born and raised in Hathaway, Louisiana, where she grew up on her family’s rice and crawfish farm. Her father, Dave, a third-generation farmer, and her mother, Arlene, a longtime parish educator, taught Lauren the values of hard work, faith, and service to others. Early mornings on the farm and the example set by her parents shaped the strong work ethic and sense of responsibility she carries into public service today.
A graduate of Welsh High School, Lauren went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business with a concentration in Management from Louisiana State University, before completing her Juris Doctorate and Comparative Law Degree at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU.
Lauren began her legal career at the respected Jennings law firm of Marcantel, Marcantel, Wall, & Pfeiffer, where she practiced tort, family, property, and succession law. In 2018, she co-founded Heinen & Guinn, where she focused on family, property, and criminal law.
Throughout her career, Lauren’s mission has been clear: to provide every client with personalized attention, understand their issues, and advocate passionately on their behalf. She has represented clients in courtrooms across Louisiana and served as counsel for the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office. On March 26, 2022, Lauren was elected with 58% of the vote, becoming the first female District Attorney of Jefferson Davis Parish and one of only five female DAs in the State of Louisiana.
Her dedication to service extended beyond the courtroom. Lauren has been active in community organizations, serving as President of the Jennings Kiwanis Club, a current member of the Welsh Rotary Club, and a volunteer attorney for Lawyers in Libraries through the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Access to Justice program. She is also a devoted parishioner at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Hathaway.
